The piece begins with a video self-portrait captured during an early Saturday metro commute in Mexico City. As the train travelled from one station to another, I found myself drawn to document the moment, so I filmed and collected several audio recordings. Additionally, I penned a few notes on the thoughts and emotions running through me at that moment. These later became the poem that holds the piece together.
Moreover, the piece delves into the profound sense of isolation that can engulf an individual living in a large city. My desire was to share my own experience of this sentiment. I find it is intricately tied to the anonymity that vast populations bestow, and how this can foster a sense of desolation among urban dwellers. I made this piece in the hope of resonating with those who have experienced this as well.
'GHST /\\\ mX blues \///' also marks a personal detachment from the characteristic manner in which I work, by the use of moving image and text together. As well as being perhaps the sole video piece in which I'm featured.
