In Words I Find

In Words I Find is a project that stems from a twofold process involving previously researched written works and the context- environment of Ho Chi Minh City.

Using fragments from literature as guiding threads, In Words I Find is a search in the city for visual cues that cite the ethos of the written word. These cues can be in the form of a sign, an ad on a busy street or maybe a shop, these are documented to be used at a later stage in the creative process. The result is a body of work that is informed by both the written word and the tangible context it was produced in.

The reading material is structured around the theme of Vietnam, and includes a diverse range of classical, modern and contemporary literature. Texts are from Vietnamese writers, descendants of the Vietnamese diaspora, as well as other authors.

The project was presented in an open studio format within the exhibition solo-sans-solo. As conclusion to the residency programme at A.Farm.

In this format the entire studio functioned as one cohesive installation, yet once dismantled the compounding elements are considered as standalone pieces.
